Free online flash game

Super Smash Flash 2 is a free online fan game. Created by Gregory McLeod, this action title is based on the Super Smash Bros series and will feature its gameplay and characters. However, it is not a clone of the popular Nintendo game as it has loosened criteria.

Super Smash Flash 2 will also include characters from any series that has ever appeared on Nintendo. Moreover, it allows access to other third and fourth-party characters, including but not limited to Goku, Ichigo, and Naruto. However, there is little to do in the game aside from battling other characters.

Easy-to-grasp gameplay

If you ever played Super Smash Bros, then Super Smash Flash 2 will be easy for you to understand. As mentioned, this game is based on the Nintendo franchise and shares similar gameplay. You will fight other characters until one of you is knocked out. However, unlike most traditional fighting games, a character's health is measured through a damage percentage counter. As you attack, the damage accumulates, and the percent value increases. With this, you have more chances of knocking your opponent off.

Control-wise, you are allowed to use your keyboard. However, unlike its predecessor, Super Smash Flash, the controls are assigned to different keys. WASD is now assigned as Player 1's movement, while the arrow keys are for Player 2. The O and P remain as P1's possession. However, O is used for special moves, while P is for standard attacks. Player 2, meanwhile, can use the 1 Key on the number pad for special moves and the number 2 for standard attacks.

More modes and playable characters

You can participate in matches in either Time, Stock mode, or a combination of the two. As the name suggests, the Time Mode comes with a designated time limit, and you have to KO your opponent before it runs out. If both of you are still standing, the player with the most points wins. In case of a tie, a Sudden Death match will determine the winner.

Meanwhile, the Stock Mode gives a player a chosen amount of life. Every time they are KO'd or self-destruct, they will lose a life. The match ends when one player—or team— loses all their lives.  Players can also play in the Classic Mode, where they fight against CPU-controlled opponents in a series of levels, with bonus rounds. The mode ends with a traditional boss fight against the Master Hand on Final Destination.

Super Smash Flash 2 further extends the game's content by providing an All-Star mode, where the player, with one stock, fights the entire roster in various rounds. Don't worry, though. You are allowed to heal in-between stages. More modes are available, including arena, single-player, multiplayer, and even an online mode. Of course, there is also a Training mode, where you can test your skills on multiple stages.

More than a wide selection of modes, the game also boasts a large roster of playable characters. As noted, this is not limited to the Nintendo universe as it includes heroes from other franchises, such as Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Bleach. There are two types of characters in the game: the starter, which is available from the beginning, and the unlockable, which needs to be unlocked.

Lots of fun for the fans

Overall, Super Smash Flash 2 is a game for a fan of Super Smash Bros. Although it is not a patch of the original game, it offers similar gameplay and fresh challenges. Not only that, but it has a wide selection of modes to play and a large roster of playable characters. However, there isn't much to do in it besides battle other players. Once the nostalgia has worn off, some might find it a bit dull.
